When on the first weekend of July Polish breeders enjoyed successes during the show in Tarnów, one of the mares belonging to the stud near Gniezno – Lubochnia Arabians – was successful at the international show in Arezzo (Italy).

The bay D Dawaly at the Montefalco in Tour 2023 show (C Int. class), after winning the 4-6 year old mares class with an impressive score of 92.80 points (including 5 x 20), competed a day later for a medal in the senior mare championship.

And so D Dawaly (FA El Rasheem – D Danat by SG Labib) won the Senior Mare Gold Medal, and it was her second showing and second Senior Mare Gold Medal after arriving in Italy from the United Arab Emirates in the winter.

Dobrochna Perz-Wawrzyńczyk, the owner of Lubochnia Arabians, comments in an interview with the polskiaraby.com portal: “Dawaly is feeling better and better, she is recovering after a few months of acclimatization in Europe, arriving in the winter from the United Arab Emirates to Europe is not something easy for the horse’s body. We keep our fingers crossed for her and support her greatly, especially since our horses will take part in a show in Poland for the first time, in a few days we will see them in the ring with Paolo Capecci in Sopot!

Last weekend, Polish breeders recorded significant successes at two international Arabian horse shows: in Italy and Belgium. During the Palermo Arabian Horse Cup (class C Int.) in the capital of Sicily, two mares representing Lubochnia Arabians stud near Gniezno, having won their age classes, competed a day later for medals in championships abounding in numerous and strong in terms of quality rivals.

Competing in the junior mares was the grey D Leen (D Seraj – D Maha by Eden C), who won the 3 year old mares class with a score of 93.13 points (including 4 x 20) and on Sunday won the Junior Mares Gold Medal unanimously, in great style and to the applause of the audience.

The group of senior mares included the bay D Dawaly (FA El Rasheem – D Danat by SG Labib). After winning the class, although falling while running into the ring (luckily she did not get injured), the judges still gave her a high score of 92.38 points.

It was the second show this season for D Leen, who won the Gold Medal of the Junior Mares at the Travagliato Arabian Horse Festival (C Int.) a month earlier, and the first show this season for D Dawaly, who had never been shown in Europe before.

Dobrochna Perz-Wawrzyńczyk, the owner of Lubochnia Arabians, commented on the above-mentioned performances of the mares from this stud as follows: “After arriving from the United Arab Emirates, our horses needed time to acclimate in Italy. Upon their arrival, they are prepared for this year’s season by Paolo Capecci and his team. In Palermo they showed themselves very well, although you could see their fatigue. From Tuscany to Sicily, they had to travel a long way, mainly by land, but also by boat from Salerno to the island.”

In the same weekend, during the Arabian Horse Weekend Int. B Show in Schaijk, the Netherlands, the yearling colt Poker Face KL (RFI Unique – Plivia by Kahil Al Shaqab), bred and owned by Klikowa Arabians, won the yearling class with a score of 91 .8 points (3 x 20) and the highest mark for movement among yearling colts. In the finals he won the Gold Medal of Yearling Colts.

Poker Face KL is last year’s winner of the European Championships in the foal-colts category. Marek Rzepka, the owner of Klikowa Arabians, told polskiaraby.com: “Poker Face KL is a promising young stallion. We are happy with his result and how he showed. He has a career in European rings ahead of him. And in Poland, we are in the middle of the foaling season, which promises to be extremely exciting for our stud, mainly due to the offspring of the stallion Lyric E.A. We are very curious how the currently splendid foals of this young son of Shanghai E.A will develop.”

The first weekend of July (01-02.07) is one to be marked on the Polish show calendar – it is the date of the well-known by breeders All-Polish Arabian Horse Championship (B-Nat), moved this year from Radom to Tarnów.

There would be no success of the championship in Radom without the hard work and dedication of Mr. Stanisław Redestowicz, who in the last few years created an important event that is so popular among breeders.

The board of the PAHBA, in consultation with Mr. Redestowicz and thanks to the involvement of Mr. Marek Rzepka, decided to organize the show in a unique place, which is the Klikowa Stallion Depot, currently owned by the “Klikowska Ostoja Polskich Koni” Foundation, and once the stud of Prince Roman Sanguszko, where one of the first Arabian horses in Poland were imported to.

The idea of continuing the show, which was already in the ECAHO calendar and has a high-ranking “B Nat” affiliation, was born during the last PAHBA convention in Pińczów. After discussions about the elections and the situation in Arabian horse breeding in Poland, the new Board of the PAHBA decided that everything should be done to focus all attention on the promotion of Polish Arabian horses.

The All-Polish Arabian Horse Championship show will be judged this year by a panel composed of: Bérengère Fayt (France), Michaela Weidner (Germany), Dr. Gianmarco Aragno (Italy), Peter Birch (Denmark) and Robbie Den Hartog (Netherlands).

The program of the show includes two classes under saddle – Classic Pleasure and Native Costume, which will probably also be affiliated by ECAHO. In addition, the gelding class will be held on Sunday.

An interview with Dobrochna Perz-Wawrzyńczyk from Lubochnia Arabians, where the owner of the farm talks about how their breeding was established and how their history with an Arabian horses has began. Only a few days are left until the forty-fourth edition of the Polish National Arabian Horse Show and the world-famous Pride of Poland auction, which will traditionally take place in Janów Podlaski.

The official website of the event published some time ago the order of the lots of both auctions, films of each of the horses put up for sale and the frame programme of both events. The fact that the National Show is very popular among visitors to Janów Podlaski can be proved by the pool of tickets for the championship days distributed by the ebilet.pl service that has been sold out some time ago already. Intensive preparations are currently underway at Janów Stud – the organisers are announcing a new, completely different setting for both events, the show and auction grounds will be located in a new place on the grounds of Janów Stud. Approximately 120 horses have beent entered for the show and in-hand classes will be preceded by presentations of Arabian horses under saddle. And before the start of the show competitions a national course for members of the Disciplinary Committee will be held in Janów Podlaski, the participants of which will serve their apprenticeship during the National Show.

According to the organisers, the auction offer has met with a positive response from the international community – breeders from, among others, Western Europe, the Balkans, the Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Israel, Qatar, Lebanon and even from exotic South Africa or Iran have announced their arrival. Those who do not manage to make it to Janów in person have begun registering accounts on the Equibid.pl platform which, as the auction moderator, collects the auction deposits and will conduct the horse bidding in a hybrid mode, i.e. combining on-site bidding with online bidding at the same time.

On the website dedicated to this year’s Pride of Poland auction and Polish National Arabian Horse Show in Janów Podlaski, a range of new information has been added for potential buyers and the for public. First of all we found out which horses made it to the prestigious “main” auction Pride of Poland, and which will be presented at Monday’s Summer Sale. The organisers also published the terms and conditions of participation in the auction with a useful “guidebook”, i.e. a shortened version of the the most important points of the conditions of participation in the auction. On the website www.prideofpoland.eu there are also features links to the possibility of purchasing two-day tickets for the public grandstand during the auction and for booking free tickets for the public for the individual days of the National Show.
Tickets as well as the auction catalogue (to be collected during the auction, on site – in Janów Podlaski) can be ordered via the eBilet,pl platform.

On the other hand, the Equibid.pl platform, which handles deposit payments and the hybrid auction process a catalogue of auctions divided into Pride of Poland and Summer Sale has appeared. For those who intend to bid online this year, the possibility deposit payments and registering participant accounts has already been opened. According to information obtained from the organiser – the first customers interested in the auction have already set up accounts on the first day when this opportunity arose. Personal arrival in Janów this year has already been confirmed by some of the regular guests of the auction – such as buyers of the most expensive horses in previous years as well as a group of potential new buyers – have already confirmed their personal arrival at Janów this year. as well as a group of potential new buyers from, among others, Israel, Qatar, Iran, Italy or South Africa. Due to some pandemic restrictions customers from China are not able to come to Janów Podlaski however they have expressed an interest in participating in the online auction via Equibid.pl.

Last weekend in the Italian city of Arezzo, located between two wonderful cities of Tuscany – its capital Florence and Perugia, an international C show was held – the Spring International AHS. The event was organized by Arabian Horse Events, chaired by a famous breeder and organizer of shows on the Apennine Peninsula – Claudio Mazza.

Despite the low attendance in the classes, the show was characterized by the high quality of the entered horses. The organization stood at the highest European level, and the numerous breeders and exhibitors from Europe and the Middle East were not disturbed even by the 35-degree heat. The spectators watched the show with pleasure in spacious tents, and the place of the competition itself, the fully professional “Arezzo Equestrian Center” was an excellent base for horses. Permanently built wooden, high and airy stables, often sprinkled with water, and a short distance to the preparatory ring favored the main heroes of this event.

The judges this year were: Antonia Bautista (Spain), Jonas Salzmann (Kuwait), Giorgio Rossi (Italy) and Abdullah Majed Al Mehyawi (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia).

It was yet another show in the 2022 season, in which the Polish Lubochnia Arabians stud, established last year, achieved significant success. This time their home-bred and owned yearling Wajana L (Dominic M – Washa by Kahil Al Shaqab), won the yearling fillies class (section A) and a day later was unanimously chosen as the Yearling Mare Gold Champion.

Whereas, the two-year-old, already decorated D Narjeseyyah, shown for the fifth time in her career, this time won a silver medal (4 gold medals in her career, 1 silver). After winning the two-year-old fillies class, in the championships she fought a fierce battle with the winner of the three-year-old fillies class, the grey Mahdia Al Jassimya (SMA Magic One – RP Miss Surprise) bred and owned by Al Jassimya (Qatar). The judges voted 2 to 2, and the gold medal was won by 0.25 points higher in class in favor of Mahdia Al Jassimya.

Ahead of us – Menton on the French Riviera!

This weekend the eyes of breeders and enthusiasts of Arabian horses around the world will be turned to the show in Menton (Championnat du Pur-Sang Arabe de la Méditerranée et des Pays Arabes), and this is because the exhibitors are mainly breeders from Western Europe (also, although few, from Poland) and from the Arabic countries. Menton is a small port city located on the beautiful French Riviera, between the Principality of Monaco and the Italian border, just 20 km from the airport in Nice and is a good location for many exhibitors from Europe and the world. Menton has been organizing the Arabian horse championship since 1991, so it is a well-known and prestigious event.

Last Friday the entries for this year’s edition of the Pride of Poland and Summer Sale were closed. An online catalog was published on the event’s official website and the previously published list of horses was supplemented with their photos. At this moment the list includes 46 horses that have not yet been officially divided into the Pride of Poland and Summer Sale. According to the organizer the list will be updated and divided at a later date.

Currently in the state and private studs there are video sessions underway, which are produced and promoted by the industry leader – the Italian company Arabian Insider. Its Instagram and Facebook profiles, as well as official Pride of Poland social media channels already show snapshots from the session. The organizers of this year’s auction emphasize the importance of well shot promotional videos especially this year as the horses exhibited at Janów Podlaski will be available for bidding not only on location but also online during the event via Equibid platform with livestream produced by Arabian Essence, a company which supports the biggest Arabian horse events in the world.

Last weekend turned out to be very lucky for the progeny of the stallion Mikon OS being in Polish co-ownership. On Saturday his yearling daughter Rehana AF (out of the Polish bred mare Efekta by Wadis) became a silver medalist at the Manda Arabian Horse Show in Israel. The mare was bred by AF Arabians, who bought Efekta in foal to Mikon OS in Poland and the current owner of the silver medalist is Youcef Abo Shandi. Whereas on Sunday at the international Arabische Pferde in Westfalen Show in Germany the winner of the two year old fillies’ class was HF Jophiel (out of HF Josephine by RP Burj Al Arab) bred and owned by NOR Agri Arabians from France.

Mikon OS – 3/4 brother of the famous AJ Radman and maternal half-brother of the European Junior Reserve Champion Filly Zaina OS is owned by Tomasz Kotynski and Yas Stud from Egypt. This year he was leased for two seasons to the Romanian Eden Arabians stud but left a crop of promising progeny also in Poland. To meet the growing interest in the stallion, Eden Arabians is currently freezing semen of Mikon OS, which will also be available to the breeders from Poland.

The breeders and lovers of Arabian horses were not disturbed by the 30-degree heat, alternating with heavy rain, to participate in the international Arabian horse show, organized last Saturday and Sunday at the Ippodromo La Favorita race track in Palermo, Sicily. The running track and the stands which have been undergoing renovation for a long time, were put into use only a few months ago. Inside the track, Arabian show horses competed, trotters raced on the track, and in the side arenas there were demonstrations of the Spanish riding school, visited, interestingly, by crowds.

Judging at this year’s edition of the Palermo Arabian Horse Cup were: Caroline Reid (Great Britain), Ward Bemong (Belgium), Marc Veray (France) and Fausto Scanzi and Giorgio Rossi (Italy).

The show in Palermo has a long history and for many years it has traditionally been attended by horses owned by many leading Italian and European breeders. However, for the first time in the history of this event, a horse received such a high score – 94 points. Such a score was achieved by D Modi (FA El Rasheem – D Nawal by Royal Colors).

The wonderful four-year-old D Modi, bred at Dubai Stud (UAE), is owned by the Polish Lubochnia Arabians, which has been dynamically developing since last year. After a successful show career in the Middle East, she flew to Europe earlier this year and prepared for the 2022 show season at the Capecci Training Center. With seven top marks (20 pts) D Modi dominated the 4-6 year old mares class (section A), winning the following titles: Gold Medal of the Senior Mares Championship, Highest Scored Horse and Best in Show.

Another Polish accent was the winning of the Junior Mare Championship by D Narjeseyyah (FA El Rasheem – Exxaltress by Excalibur E.A.), who after winning the two-year-old fillies class with a score of 91.8 points, was unanimously chosen Junior Champion Mare a day later in the finals. It was the first appearance of D Narjeseyyah this season, who was successfully shown in European rings as a yearling. During three starts, she won three gold medals. The mare also belongs to Lubochnia Arabians near Gniezno, and was prepared and shown by Paolo Capecci for the competition in Palermo.

Dobrochna Perz-Wawrzyńczyk, owner of Lubochnia Arabians, summarizes the starts of horses from her stud: – Although we started our adventure with Arabian horses last year, it was a very intense time for us. We mainly showed D Narjeseyyah and Juwanda OS. We recorded a really successful first season, winning four gold medals and one silver. This year we have more horses in training. We started the European season very well in Palermo, where we showed two horses. They won two gold medals, and D Modi received a very high score of 94 points, which does not happen very often at the shows. Of course, we try to look at the show stage realistically and we have a lot of humility and respect for Polish breeders and for what they have achieved in the history of breeding purebred horses. For us, cooperation between breeders on the Polish and international arena as well as the promotion of Arabian horses is important. We will strive for this in the near future, and my husband and I have many plans.
