Last weekend in our neighboring Germany the triple Arabian horse show called all together – Arabica Frankfurt International took place. The organizers have been promoting the event as so much popular that it had to be moved from Dillenburg state stud to the racecourse in Frankfurt am Mein, just 5 minutes away drive from the International Airport.

About 100 horses were entered to the show this year – says Alicja Poszepczyńska, one of the Polish private breeders that entered the horses to the event. Their overall level was higher than in Wels in her opinion, also because their number was much bigger. As well as to Wels internationals, the top European horse trainers came with the horses to Frankfurt – as Frank Spoenle, Scott Allman and Johanna Ullstrom, some of them brought also Polish-owned horses.

The national C show called „Arabica” took place on Saturday, while the international B – „Orientalica” was held on Sunday and the II Egyptian Europe Cup for Straight Egyptian horses ended up the event on Monday.

We were most interested in Orientalica results as two Polish bred and owned horses took part in the competition: Ganga (Emigrant – Granada) owned by Family Poszepczyński, trained by Johanna Ullstrom and Wegaza (Gazal Al Shaqab – Wedeta), from Falborek Arabians, shown by Frank Spoenle.

In Alicja Poszepczyńska’s opinion, there was no equal level between the offspring classes – yearling and two years old fillies were this time much weaker that the colts this age and the senior female classes were very uneven. There were no big favorites and top stars amongst yearling and two years old fillies while in 3 years old’ they appeared – such as the champions of this show: FS Cayenne and Maya des Alpes. Amongst the well known multichampions such stars as El Amin or Major came.

%alttext%%alttext%Unfortunately the panel of judges didn’t take so much care for the body & topline and legs faults – says Alicja Poszepczyńska. She recalls the case of one 4 years old mare which was built as several years old veteran broodmare and she received 2 x 18 and 19 for topline! The bad habit of taking care of dishy heads and movement mostly, seems to be hard to banish…
The crowds of spectators didn’t fail – especially at the international show. Alicja Poszepczyńska recommends this show for the breeders and horses from Poland saying: „The accommodation for horses and people was good and the way from Poland is quite short and easy – and even if not for the top prizes yet – just to compete and be compared with the best ones in Europe”.
