The first foals by Ontario HF, last year’s famed import of Kielnarowa Stud, have arrived. This week saw two fillies born: out of Anina (by Emigrant) and out of Celdona (by Eldon). Big, correctly conformed and in addition to that with shapely, short heads. “Now I understand the reasons behind the very positive opinions after the first American foalings of mares bred to Ontario”, says Czesław Witko, the owner of the stallion. “It is also clear for me why I received an offer of re-purchasing this stallion by breeders from the USA. I’m happy that he has come to us”. More than a dozen mares still await their foals by Ontario, both in Kielnarowa and in other studs.

It is worth reminding that the grey Ontario HF 1999 (Monarch AH – HF Orzonna by Pepton), bred by Suzanne and Rick Flammer of Harizan Farms (Texas) – who visited their pupil in September of 2007 (see: American breeders in Poland) – is a robust (155 cm in the withers) and strong horse with an impressive 3 year racing career. He participated in 22 races, winning 8, including 3 Stakes. He placed second 3 times and third 5 times. In 2003 he was named Best Four Year Old in this category of the Darley Awards, Horse of the Year, awarded since 1983 by breeders, owners, trainers and jockeys associated in the Arabian Jockey Club. Ontario HF is a representative of a superb Polish racing line, stemming from Janów’s Orla. His dam HF Orzonna, born in the US but exported in her mother’s womb, is the granddaughter of the phenomenal Triple-Crowned Orla. HF Orzonna, an Oaks winner in California, ended her racing career with a record of 2/10 (7-2-0) O+3-1.
