As we just found out, Michałów’s Morion (Kahil Al Shaqab – Mesalina/Ekstern) will perform in Paris under the banner of the Qatari Al Thumama Stud, owned by Dana Al-Meslemani, for whom this is not the first time to bet on Polish horses. Other equines already under their care include Orla Turnia (Shanghai EA – Orlanka/Aslan), bred by StanRed Arabians, Alabama (Gazal Al Shaqab – Altona/Eukaliptus), bred by Janów Podlaski and Wieża Róż (Ekstern – Wieża Babel/Laheeb), bred by Michałów State Stud. Last weekend, during the European Championships in Verona, the stud claimed the junior gold champion mare medal thanks to Penelope KA (by QR Marc), daughter of Michałów’s Polonia by Ekstern. „We are still a small farm but with big dreams”, declares Hilke de Bruycker, manager of Al Thumama. The lease of Morion is another step forward. “We have been admiring Morion since

he was a yearling”, explain Dana Al-Meslemani and Hilke de Bruycker. “He represents for us the epitome of the modern Arabian horse backed up by his powerful Polish heritage which results in an overall complete colt destined for accomplishing big things. We are honoured to have the opportunity to lease Morion and are very grateful to Michałów Stud. He will join us at Al Thumama Stud until the end of 2017. Good news for the European breeders is that he will be available at public stud in 2017. But first things first, let’s get his crown back in Paris”.

Straight from Verona Morion travelled to a training center in Belgium. “He achieved everything he could in the junior category”, says the director of Michałów Stud, Jerzy Białobok. “After Paris he will spend some time in the Middle East, which will definitely have a good impact on his show record. I was not planning on sending him to the track, so a two year absence will not be a problem. He will remain under the care of Tom Oben, one of the better European trainers. I think they can make a good match.”

In turn Equator (QR Marc – Ekliptyka/Ekstern), who is expected to travel across the pond to the US, will still be representing Poland during the World Championships. He will make his way to the American branch of the Qatari Al Jassimya Stud after Paris. “He is a mature stallion, long journeys should not present any problem for him. He will be shown in the US, but first of all he is to be a breeding sire”, informs the head of Michałów Stud. “It is a good and reliable herd, so we are expecting good results. As for us, we have enough frozen semen for our needs. Whereas Morion is still too young to be widely used.”

Al Thumama’s Parisian promo of Morion includes a quote from „The Lord of the Rings”:

From the ashes a fire shall be woken,
A light from the shadows shall spring;
Renewed shall be blade that was broken,
The crownless again shall be king.” *

As we can see, the owner and manager of Al Thumama Stud deeply believe that in Paris Morion will return to the podium, which he missed in Verona. With all certainty he has a huge chance.
