On 18th September Polish as well as world’s Arabian horse community lost the person of merit – the first director and establisher of one of the best Arabian herds in the world – Mr.Ignacy Jaworowski. He was breeding the horses at Michałów State Stud for 44 years and during this time he created the characteristic and currently most popular “Michałów type” of Arab horse in Poland. During this past years horses from Michałów stud dozens of times won Polish National as well as international champion titles including European, US and World Championships. It was Mr.Jaworowski’s idea to use such a prominent sires as Monogramm (US) or Probat (SE) in Polish breeding program. He was “Breeding Oscar” – American breeders prize winner as well as many Polish National decorations of merit winner.
Just few months before his death he was given doctor honoriscausa of Cracow’ Agricultural Academy title. But first of all he was the great authority, personality and repository of knowledge, the Human with a lot of gentlemanliness for other people and humility for his hard work. He was recalling His first childhood memories with words: „it were the horses coming back from the pasture (in His family estate) shining red in the sunset as they were carrying the dying away day on their backs…” – hopefully they will meet the great Polish Breeder on the greener pastures.
In the year 2004 we lost also the Polish Arabian Horse Breeders Society’s Honorary Member and great Polish Arabian horse lover and breeder – Dr Eugene De Lacroix. He was Lasma Arabians breeding imperium establisher (in 1944) – the farm that became the power after the import of “American revelation” – Bask (bred by Janów Podlaski). And though Lasma Arabians doesn’t exist anymore (transformed into Lasma Ltd. training center) nothing will change the fact that Polish breeding lost it’s great friend and propagator for ever.

Algomej (Celebes – Algonkina / Pietuszok) born 1973 at Janów Podlaski, full brother to famous Algeria and last son of meritorious Algonkina. 1985 Polish National Reserve Champion Stallion nad Swedish National Champion Stallion. He died at Marsha Parkinson’s Canterbury Farm in United States. More about Algomej:

Also at Canterbury Farm Wilejka (El Paso – Warmia/Comet) born 1976 at Michałów ended her days. She was the last of 4 El Paso and Warmia daughters born in Michałów and 1982 Polish National Junior Champion Mare. The best product of this dam of many great broodmares and champions was Wojsław – the prominent and proven sire, “the brave and beauty” – Polish National Champion Stallion and Polish Race Champion.
