Last weekend the new Arabian horse event at Polish show calendar took it’s place. I Autumn Arabian Horse Show at Janów Podlaski that was held on the new indoor arena is the important event for few reasons.

When in 2004 III International Arabian Horse Show in Poznań was cancelled Poland lost well organized, autumn indoor event that gave possibility to prove horses before important shows such as All Nations Cup or European and world championships but also a chance to compare Polish horses to the foreign ones and – being international – to meet the breeders from all around Europe. Falborek Arabians stud has been trying to renew this kind

of event unsuccessfully. And finally the expected, beautiful show hall with all comfortable endowment was opened at Janów Podlaski. Arabian horse show organized at this place seemed to be a matter of time and Janów Podlaski stud directors didn’t waist the time.
And so we could seen 58 state stud and private bred horses entered to the halter classes. Also the sport competitions had their debut here – after a long break and – according to the number of spectators watching the classes – they were mostly welcomed.

Janów Podlaski stud entered 12 chief sires to all (Classic Pleasure, Costume Classic and Polish Native Costume) under-the-saddle classes so they were divided into A – for stallions and B – for mares and geldings sections. In B sections of Classic Pleasure and Classic Costumes the 6 mares from other state stud – Michałów took part. Unfortunately, despite the declarations there were very few private owned horses competing under the saddle. Hopefully the situation from the halter classes at first Poznań and Falborek shows will repeat and there will be more private horses entered in the future shows at Janów.

Very nice and moving equestrian moment was Elekt presentation. This gelding born 21 years ago at Janów Podlaski is one of the Polish or even European sport Arabian horse of merit. He started in a number of endurance ridings (including twice bronze medal of Polish Nationals and competing at World Championships at Dubai) with his owner Mrs Krystyna Romszycka and afterwards – the good dressage career with her daughter – Agnieszka. This time Elekt won Classic Pleasure B and gave the last dressage presentation in his career. Moved Marek Trela, Janów Podlaski stud director, congratulated the rider – Agnieszka Romszycka and Janów Podlaski-born Elekt.

I Autumn Show was also illuminated by the special presentation of first European Showjumping Champion in Polish breeding history of Arabian horses – Niniwa bred and owned by Family Ostrowski. This small but brave mare proudly entered the arena under her rider – Agnieszka Olszewska wearing the gold medal from Stadl Paura. Afterwards they jumped smoothly the parcours with 130 cm high fences as easily as they wouldn’t take part at the hard show season and long travel to Austria.

One of the private breeders that was undoubtedly satisfied with coming to Autumn Show was Michał Bogajewicz. His yearling – very handsome, wonderfully big dark eyed Miły Pan won the Junior Champion Stallion title beating very promising Białka bred Celsjusz and successful show colts private bred – Popo and Wextrim. The other Bogajewicz stud bred horse, good moving and promising sport gelding Gobelin, owned by Urszula Łęczycka successfully competed at Classic Pleasure B with Agnieszka Romszycka, placed second just after his experienced stablemate Elekt. This interesting horse took part also in Classic Costume B class. In spite of the little accident at warming-up arena he was competing very well but the judge subtracted him a point for prohibited element of the costume due to ECAHO rules and finally Gobelin was not placed in the top 5 of this class.
But let’s hope that he will worthy replace his stable mate Elekt when his career ends up.

First Autumn Horse Show at Janów Podlaski has a chance to become one of the most important events in Polish show calendar. There is no pressure and kind of tinsel of Arabian Horse Days and Nationals, it is well organized at beautiful place and nice atmosphere. It could be a good test for the horses before the other indoor shows and for the others – the first step into their sport career. One of the private breeders that entered his horse to this I Autumn Show was Jan Głowacki. „ We were interested in this new event and

we are not disappointed at all – says Jan’s son, Szymon, horse trainer and handler at Nowa Wieś Stud. – I’m very satisfied with the scores of my mare, Gracea. The whole event was excellently organized and conducted and there is no such nice atmosphere anywhere else than here” – he explains.
Janów Podlaski stud director seems to be satisfied with the event as well saying that this show influences his imagination more than the Nationals held three weeks ago at this place. Is there a chance then that we will have the Autumn Internationals in Poland…?
