American horse trainer – Greg Gallun, thanks to whom Michałów-bred Elandra became 2007 Scottsdale Senior Champion Mare and Michałów-bred and owned Wkra achieved Top Ten Senior Mare title, was elected 2006 Trainer of the Year in Professional Trainers category in the US! The winners were announced during the Awards Banquet on Sunday 25th February in Westin Kierland Resort & Spa at Scottsdale.
The annual awards are organized by Arabian Professional & Amateur Horsesmen’s Association. The winners are elected by Association’s Members by voting in 24 categories which are divided into 7 main categories. Due to Polish Arabian horses being on lease or sold to US and trained for the main US shows we were especially interested in Professional Trainer category.
In this category Greg Gallun has beaten David Boggs (well known as the trainer of famous Magnum Psyche) or Larry Jones that has been training and handling many of Polish Arabian horses in the US (he also worked for Dunromin’ Arabian Farm, that bought the famous stallion Penitent). Last year the Professional Trainer of the Year became Andy Sellman from Brookville Arabians (that is currently leasing 2006 World Res. Champion Stallion – Marajj by Gazal Al Shaqab) and 2004 and 2003 Trainer of the Year was Michael Byatt.
Every edition of APAHA’ Awards is sponsored by the elite of Arabian horse related companies and big stud farms in US. This year there were for example: Jarvis Insurance, Cantena Watches, Strawberry Banks Farm, David & Terryann Boggs and Bob & Jeanine Boggs.
2006 show ring honors of Greg Gallun were really impressive – in his portfolio we can find:
-
- U.S. National Unanimous Champion Sr. Mare (El Dorada)/li>
- U.S. National Champion Jr. Mare (Pianissima)
- 2006 Scottsdale 6 Championships or Reserve (El Dorada) Scottsdale 11 first or second place winners Scottsdale 20+ top ten winners (Pianissima)
- Regions 1,2,3 and 7. 19 Championships
and more.
These are Pianissima and El Dorada the „spectacular horses trained in 2006” that Greg mentioned in his portfolio for 2006 show season.
Besides show training and handling Greg is also Arabian horse judge – he judged 2006 Brazilian Nationals in November.
