Medal PZHKA

Last weekend the annual XI Polish Arabian Horse Breeders Society (PZHKA) General Meeting took place at Janów Podlaski State Stud. It was accompanied with the 10th anniversary jubilee of the Society that has it’s goal in development and improvement of pure bred Arabian horse breeding in Poland. The first General Meeting of the Society took place on 4th April 1997 in Janów Podlaski when PZHKA was established by 16 members. Today the Society that is also the associated member of ECAHO and WAHO gathers 164 members including 70 breeders and 80 owners and enthusiasts of the breed.

Since 10 years the PZHKA’s President is worldwide known authority – Mrs. Izabella Pawelec-Zawadzka. This year the tenure of President and administration of the Society ended so the main point of the XI Meeting were the elections. Result of voting for the new President was 85 votes for Mrs. Pawelec-Zawadzka with 5 against so this seemed to be only the formality as no other candidates were offered. Due to the 10 years of her leadership in the Society and her merits in Polish Arabian horse breeding promotion all over the world Mrs. Pawelec-Zawadzka was given the unique Decoration of the first association gathering Arabian horse breeders in Poland – the Society of Arabian Horse Breeding (THKA). The Decoration with the special letter was given in the name of living family of the first and last President of THKA – count Aleksander Dzieduszycki.
Amongst the 14 candidates for the administration the new members were elected as follows: Krystyna Chmiel, Jerzy Białobok, Krzysztof Czarnota and Edward Andraszak, who just after the election started to execute his program by offering the care of young show horse’ classes.

Besides it’s seminary and electing part the General Meeting was the occasion to discuss and conclude the new proposals by PZHKA members. The most emotional was the proposal of the new resolution about limiting the starts of non-Polish bred horses in stakes races in Poland. The resolution accepted by General Meeting members votes supports the previous resolution of Polish Jockey Club in this matter that is going to be brought forward to the Ministry of Agriculture. Both resolutions were initiated by Mr. Andrzej Wójtowicz. But certainly it is not the end of this controversial resolution amongst the race society of Poland.

On Saturday Evening Gala PZHKA members as well as the honorary members and special guests were given the commemorative PZHKA medals and the breeders were awarded in three categories for the 2006 season: the Shows award was given to Mr Przemysław Sawicki whose colt Popo was not only the best private bred young stallion of 2006 Białka Junior Spring Show/Polish National Junior Stallion Championships but he was also the Reserve Champion of 2006 A cat. show in Vilhelmsborg. The trophy for Races category was given to 2006 Derby winner – Eliat bred by Agricola Farm. There was no doubt that the award for Sport will be given to Niniwa – 2006 European Showjumping Champion owned by St. Roch Arabians/Oświata Lingwista.

Part of tradition of PZHKA General Meetings is the current chief sires at Janów Podlaski Stud presentation followed by the mares with crop of best foals. This year for the first time the stallions were presented under the saddle by the students of Technical Secondary School of Horse Breeding from Janów Podlaski. Mr Trela, the stud director underlined the big role of stallions Ganges, Aslan and Poganin in 2007 breeding program of the stud.

Amongst the several foals shown at the presentation the progeny of Piruet was highly appreciated with its good and strong conformation and nice heads. Director Trela was also very proud of the few Ecaho foals – he just wondered why „the foals with SUCH heads were not born in Janów when Ecaho was standing there”. The final point of foals presentation was mare Pianosa with full sister of Triplecrowned Pianissima (by Gazal Al Shaqab) at the side. The 2007 filly just like her famous sister in the same time and age is wearing long coat that covers her shapes but very dishy and short head as well as especially muscular conformation were easily visible! Pianosa is going to be bred to Gazal Al Shaqab for the fourth time and THIS time Mr Trela expects „that the colt will be born at least”!
