“Little Janów” – the Autumn Show at Janów Podlaski – contrary to the „big” one – Polish Nationals and Sale in August, was very quiet and private in character. Without crowds of spectators and press one could have the impression that the show took place only amongst the group of breeders and owners. Undoubtedly there was also a fact that both

shows are separated only by 3 weeks. It’s very hard to put the show at the same place to the publicity and make it prestigious just after the spectacular one as Polish Nationals. But when the other small shows are cancelled the “little Janów” is very important one in Polish Arabian horse breeders calendar.

On Sunday the most exciting was 7 years and above class – the only moment when the real stars appeared in the ring scored with 20. Polskiearaby.com website was very proud to be sponsor of this class!

The first 20 of the Autumn Show was given in the class before: mares 4–6 years old. It was given to Janów-bred Papusza (Ararat – Parafa/Eldon) for type, the mare got 90 points in total. Papusza was the first horse of the show that crossed the limit of 90 points. She was beaten in a while by her stablemate Alhambra (Ecaho – Albigowa/Fawor), scored 90,33, but without 20. Alhambra became Reserve Senior Champion Mare later on. „Twenties” were

generously given when mares 7 years old and above entered the ring. The class was dominated by Michałów Stud. Zmowa (Monogramm – Zguba/Enrilo) grabbed two highest scores for movement and one for type, 91,67 in total, that was the highest score of the show and she also became Senior Champion. It was really Zmowa’s weekend as she was also placed second in showjumping and Polish native costume classes. After her in the

class Ekstern-daughter Elgina (out of Egna/Eukaliptus), was placed with one 20 for type and 91 total. Another two 20’s were given to their stablemate Demona (Monogramm – Dalida/Probat), that was lower scored for head and (2 x 18) and legs (16, 16, 15), placed 4th in the class with 89 pts.

Older stallions classes were disappointing. The horses were not so spectacular and it was seen in their scores: only one 20 given to Michałów-bred Eryks (Gazal Al Shaqab – Emmona/Monogramm) for movement. With the score of 90,67 points he won the class of 4–7

years old stallions and became Senior Champion Stallion and Best in Show. Second was his paternal halfbrother from Janów – Pegasus (out of Pepesza/Eukaliptus), scored 89,33 and chosen Reserve Senior Champion. Pegasus won his class before Wextreem (Om El Extreem – Wiersza/Egon), bred and owned by Krzysztof Grudziąż.

There were only 5 stallions in 8 years old and above class won by Aslan (Eukaliptus – Algora/Probat) from Janów Podlaski, before Eutin (Etogram – Euzebia/Palas), bred in Janów and owned by Andrzej Majchrzak.

The breeders usually look carefully at the stallions competing at the shows to point out the most successful candidates for next breeding season’s sires but the “little Janów” didn’t bring any clear answers.
