The Swedish National Championships held last weekend suffered from a low number of entries and a chaotic night before the show due to a very heavy rain, but heroic participants managed to keep the spirits up nonetheless. The location featured a good indoor arena, but was obviously not conducive to attract an audience outside of the owners and breeders themselves. The experienced judges panel – Ferdinand Huemer, Jerzy Bialobok, Peter Upton and Holger Ismer – held on tightly to their „20s” but did a very good job with fair and even judging.

Colts and stallions were shown on Saturday and featured the later Best In Show – Gold Champion colt Sharahm by Gharam out of Sorella (by Wadim), bred by Susanne & Greger Paus and owned by GT Arabians. The Silver went to Carwyn by Kaiser out of Czimera (by Ffatal Attraction) and the Bronze to BLA Black Night by Tristin BP out of BS Wild Love (by Black Ramon).

Stallion championships were mainly battled out between Lorenzo El Bri by CH El Brillo out of Lara el Ludjin (by Ludjin el Jamaal) on lease from Mario Matt to Jörgen and Britt Svanberg Olsen, and Rohara Bacara by Padrons Psyche out of Sidia (by Sidi-Brahim) owned by Naples Arabians, where the latter once more took home the Gold title. Bronze Champion was the 25 year old Etman by Gil out of Etruria (by Palas), very fit for his years, bred by Janów Podlaski and now owned by Arvak Nord.

The Best Swedish Breeder award was won by Jörgen and Britt Svanberg Olsen, whose homebred mares JB Prizcilla by El Amin out of Estetica (by LM Limaal) and JB Aurora by Adawy out of Waliza (by Fax) took home both senior and junior female Gold Champion titles, as well as the Highest Score trophy for JB Prizcilla.

OKS Bentoza by Girlan-Bey out of OKS Bentoda (by LM Limaal) repeated her success from last year and now became double Swedish National Silver Champion filly, while OKS Emporia by Girlan-Bey out of OKS Epsylina (by Psytadel) took the Bronze Champion title. Interestingly, these are the only two daughters by Girlan-Bey born in Sweden during 2009 and 2010. Both are bred and owned by the Kristoffersen family, OKS Arabians.

Silver Champion Senior Mare was Nifka by Om El Extreem out of Nianka (by Figaro). The Bronze went to Sorella by Wadim out of Szansa (by Rusazcie), dam of Best In Show Sharahm.
