The 2011 World Champion from Paris, Kahil Al Shaqab (Marwan Al Shaqab – OFW Mishaahl/Mishaah), leased from Qatar by the Janów Stud, arrived at the famous stud several days ago. “He feels great here,” says the pleased Director Marek Trela. “He has a great appetite, apparently the Polish dinners appeal to his taste. He is quickly acclimatizing and in a couple of days’ time will take up difficult duties.”
Kahil will be bred to some several dozen mares in Janów and he will also be available to breeders from outside the stud. As Marek Trela informs, the first applications are already in. The stallion has a very friendly nature. “He made the impression of being more feisty, but turned out to be well-behaved, calm and kind. Gazal was definitely more impulsive,” comments Director Trela.
Meanwhile Kahil’s cousin, Pianissima (Gazal Al Shaqab – Pianosa/Eukaliptus), is getting ready to perform in Dubai. As Middle Eastern show organizers are allowed to award their winners with both cash and in-kind prizes, we can expect that Pianissima will return home with gifts. She should be back in Janów by March, just in time for the annual PAHBS (Polish Arabian Horse Breeders Society) Congress. “We have not yet made a decision as to what stallion she will be bred,” says Director Trela and adds: “We are also very curious how her daughter, Pianova by Eden C, will do at the US shows this season. We are also awaiting the birth of Pianissima’s offspring carried by a surrogate dam in the US.”
