As we are informed by the studs of Michałów and Equus Arabians (Spain), the stallion Shanghai E.A. (WH Justice – Salymah E.A/Khidar), World Reserve Champion, as well as European and All Nations Cup Champion from 2011, will be used in the 2012 breeding season at Michałów Stud. “We have been looking for some time now for a stallion who would suit our mares in terms of conformation. We thought about using WH Justice, but we were slightly worried about his conformation flaws. We were waiting for a son of his who would have the positive traits of his sire – a wide forehead, a pretty eye, a short head, a distinctively pronounced profile and a highly set neck – but without his flaws. The traits that I most care about can be found in Shanghai’s head”, says Director Jerzy Białobok. “I also like the fact that Shanghai’s dam, Salymah, is a genuine, correctly built mare. I’m sure she owes this to her sire Khidar. I hold a huge sentiment for Spanish mares, who I had many opportunities to judge some time ago. I love their wonderful black eyes, one of the most beautiful eyes in Arabian mares.” Michałów plans to breed about 20 mares to the Spanish stallion. “We are proud that we have earned the trust of Michałów Stud”, emphasizes Albert Sorroca, the stallion’s breeder and owner. “We all know that references from Michałów are of the highest world quality”. Director Jerzy Białobok believes in the continuation of this first time cooperation: “Some time ago Mr. Sorroca purchased a group of Polish mares. I tried to observe and follow their produce. This year in Abu Dhabi I judged a yearling son of Shanghai, a colt named Excalibur, who seems very promising. In my opinion out of the entire young generation of stallions Shanghai is a horse most worthy of turning your attention to.” On his part Sorroca declares that another reason for him to be proud is the fact that the breeding program of Equus Arabians turned out to be so strong and solid. “Among the mares that became the foundation of our program many bear Polish pedigrees”, he points out. “We have already tried crossing Shanghai with Polish bloodlines with very good results. That’s why I’m sure that using him on superb Polish mares will bring excellent effects. I’m also talking about mares of the Polish private breeders, for whose trust I am also grateful”. Whereas Director Białobok reveals: “We want to use Shanghai on both outstanding mares, as well as those who need their beauty improved – so the stallion will be acting in Michałów two-ways. This cooperation is planned for two years, maybe longer. We will be awaiting the foals impatiently!”
Today in Scottsdale (Arizona) Equus Arabians is organizing a special venue devoted to the promotion of Shanghai E.A. in the USA. The information of using the stallion in Poland stirred a great interest among American breeders. “I think that the cooperation that we have established with the Polish breeders will prove a fantastic success”, sums up Sorroca.
