The new edition of „Arabian Horse Studs in Poland 2007” catalogue will be available on Saturday during Polish Nationals in Janów Podlaski.
2007 edition – the 200 pages book that is currently being printed, includes 340 photographs and descriptions of horses from the studs belonging to 119 Polish Arabian horse breeders and owners.
The author and publisher in one person – Wojciech Kwiatkowski shared a few details of the new edition with us:
– This edition contains descriptions of 10% more studs than past ones but will be similar in it’s design and information. I tried to catalogue all pure bred horses of Poland by the sires of these horses, that are placed at the end of the book. Unfortunately some information has been sent to me so late, that we could not work on book’s design as much as we probably could if we had more time. Additionally the weather was very bad for photo sessions this year so I finished the last photo shooting just few days ago! I have to mention that young Polish photo amateurs were very helpful with their photos that are much more better every year and can be used in the catalogue.
Difficulties in getting the proper information on the horses from their breeders and owners is a different story. Polish Arabian horse breeders community presents a wide scale of different characters and mentalities – from those who are happy to share the information with me, through those who can hardly say which horses they currently owe and what stallions they bred their mares to last season!
Unfortunately I can not see a big increase of understanding and interest in promotion of Polish Arabian horse studs. There are only a few breeders that understand that this publication is being sold not only in Poland but abroad as well, being not only a promotion for the stud but also historical documentation of breeding. I don’t think the price of mono colored ad once a year is too big expense for the stud while placing the information that will last for long. I’m very sorry for people thinking this way.
The 2007 “Arabian Horse Studs in Poland” catalogue will be available during Polish National Championships and sold at Janów Podlaski as well as by post. This edition’s cover shows a fabulous photo of Michałów-bred stallion Zakazany Owoc (Ganges – Zaleta) being owned by private breeder currently.
