The official 2008 show calendar will be published at the beginning of the next year but the show organizers already began their chase for the sponsors and participants publishing some more or less official declarations.
Raymond Tromp and Sally Henshaw in the name of the organizers inform about the international B-class event to be taken on May in Deurne/Netherlands reactivation. The new show to be called International Deurne Cup will take place as it’s precursor – Tulip Cup at the ground beautiful forest ground of Dutch Equestrian Center Deurne. The first edition of the event is planned for 3-4 May 2008 and is told to be “the first show in Europe” (that is not certainly true what will be mentioned further in this news). There will be several classes: for foals, yearlings, mares and stallions to be held and assessed by 6 judges: Joanne Lowe / UK, Christianne Chazel / FR, Anna Stojanowska / PL, Hassanain Al Nakeeb / UK, Marc Ismer / GER, Ferdinand Schwestermann / CH.
Hopefully the new Deurne event will be a good replacement for the prestigious and well known Tulip Cup held since 1998. In 2006 the organizers officially informed about closing the event after 9 years (although the show was cancelled twice: in 2001 and 2003 – the last time due to the BIRD-Pest that forbade transport of animals). In 2007 Tulip Cup was told to be replaced in date by another prestigious international ECAHO-B event in that part of Europe, St. Tropez Arabian Cup that was held in autumn so far. However in 2006 there was a rumor around the show after some “overqualified” title show winners (All Nat. Cup, European, World and Middle Eastern Championships) participated at the show (due to the ECAHO rules released in February 2006 no title show winner can participate at ECAHO-B and C shows). In 2007 season St. Tropez event was cancelled.
There are no International Deurne Cup conditions of entries published so far but the organizers provide with the accommodation and sponsorship information. Already, the official sponsors of the show includes Albidayer Stud (UAE), Klarenbeek Arabians (current owner of Polish-bred stallions Pesal and Empres) and media – Eyecatcher Advertising and Straightegyptians.com.
The first European show to be announced so far is 5th St. Petersburg Open international C-show in St. Petersburg (Russia). The organizers representative – Mr Igor Botchkarev informed us (unofficially still) that the event is planned for 30 April – 1 May 2008 and it probably will be again a part of the big equestrian event, All-Russian Equestrian Games, that took the whole 10 days in 2007 season, combining the presentations and competitions at almost all of the equestrian sports with the prize money of USD 200 000. The second Russian Arabian horse event – The 2008 Nationals in Moscow will be held in August but the official date is still unknown.
Earlier, due to the climatic conditions, Arabian horse events will begin in the Middle East. While European countries will be surrounded by cold and snowy weather an international event will take place in the smallest of United Arab Emirates – Ajman, 25 km from Dubai.
Planned for 25-26 January 2008 Ajman Arabian Horse Show is told to be an world class event where the top Arabian show horses from around the globe will compete for prestigious prizes and awards. Knowing the vivid and hospitality of Middle Eastern organizers we can expect the truly outstanding event in Ajman. It’s foretaste is the offer of one of the oldest and most luxurious in the world – Kempinski Hotel that will support the show with a special Luxury and Bliss package (priced EUR 2,685 for two) to guests visiting the Ajman Arabian Horse Show that includes: three nights in a Deluxe suite, limousine service to/from the airport, VIP desert safari and two days Spa package.
