At the beginning of October as the first European medium we informed officially about the purchase of QR Marc, considered to be the best son of twice World Champion and US National Champion – Marwan Al Shaqab (Gazal Al Shaqab – Little Liza Fame by Fame VF).

As the information about the purchase caused a lot of rumors and is surely interesting for the those planning 2008 breeding season we have been monitoring Marc’s destiny until his arrival to Europe.

While Arabian horse lovers were focused on World Championships in Paris, on Thursday 6th December 4:15pm QR Marc, assisted by Greg Gallun arrived happily at his official representative, Jadem Arabians, Belgium. On 10th December the first, intimate stallion presentation took place for the interested breeders however due to the big interest in QR Marc the owner announces some further presentation to take place in the nearest future.

QR Marc (out of Swete Dreams by Magic Dream CAHR) was bred by Vicki and Louis Doyle at Quail Ridge Arabians, CA, that became famous as a home of QR Excel (Magic Dream – Kouream De Ment), twice US National Reserve and Canadian Reserve Champion, Champion of Scottsdale, Wels International shows and Italian National, Menton (France) champion and 2005 World Top Ten Stallion (owned currently by Yeguada Ferrero, Mallorca).

QR Marc himself, born 28th February 2005, as a yearling became US National Reserve Champion Breeders Sweepstakes Colt and Region 14 Futurity Champion Colt. Then he changed the owner bought to Rohara Arabians by Roxanne and Karl Hart from Florida. Rohara Arabians is famous for its performance horses but it has done a lot to promote QR Marc as well.

At the end of September the stallion was purchased (for $4 mln!) by Paul Gheysens. The new owner is a freeholder of Ghelamco Group – a developing company situated across Western, Middle and Eastern Europe managing the 4 further business centers projects in Warsaw (6 were built already). Also in Poland the foundation mares of Paul Gheysens’ stud were bought. The stud, placed at Ieper was established 4 years ago on the base of Polish Arabian mares including: Altona, Polenta, Greta, Wiaźma, Emantka, Fraskata, Perfazia and Esturia. There are 30 horses in Gheysens’ stables already and most of the mares will be bred to QR Marc in 2008.

His first foals will be born in US in Spring – QR Marc in 2007 covered 80 mares and just before his leaving he covered 14 Pure bred and 4 half-bred mares in Rohara as well as some frozen semen was purchased throughout US.

QR Marc was located in Jadem Arabians, the bookmaker in purchase and official manager of the stallion. As Paul Gheysens says – Christine Jamar’s stud is the right place for Marc because of it’s top of the line infrastructure (incl. AI and ET centre) and unparalleled experience of it’s owners and stuff.

The breeding fee is not announced officially – the terms and conditions of breeding are given on request by Jadem Arabians (www.christine-jamar.be ), but the price of 4000 EUR was unofficially speculated.
