The organizers of ECAHO European Championships for Arabian Sports Horses in Stadl Paura (Austria), which are to be held on August 1st-3rd 2008, have presented the program and the entry form, enabling participation in this year`s edition of Sports Championships. Let`s recall that during the last year`s event the Polish mare Niniwa (Etogram – Niwa by Eukaliptus), bred and owned by Katarzyna Ostrowska, ridden by Agnieszka Olszewska, achieved a great success, as well as two stallions from Janów Podlaski, the grey Esculap (Primo – Esparceta by Fawor) and the chestnut Metropolis NA (Consensus – NDL Martinique by Muscat). Elizabeth Chat, who was the originator of the first Championships and the chairwoman of ECAHO Sports Commission in the previous term, said as follows: “I`d like, on behalf of the Organizing Committee, to cordially invite and encourage all Polish Arabian horse breeders, owners, riders and simply fans to take part in this year`s European Sports Championships. We believe that in Poland one can find more such skilled horses, as double gold medal winner in showjumping – the mare Niniwa.”
Considering abilities and training level of his horse, one can take part in the following competitions: dressage, showjumping, driving (a field trial and agility test), speed (a race for 400 m), classic pleasure (essential riding skills, judged in three basic gaits), costume classes and many western competitions.
In a judge board for this year is included Scott Benjamin from Canada, well known to Polish breeders, who, together with Margaret Rich from the US (the mother of Roy Rich – last year`s official trainer of the Championships, consulting and schooling the Polish riders, especially those from Janów Podlaski) will organize training sessions for willing riders and their Arabian mounts. The costs of participation in the training and lecture amount EUR 35. The farrier`s service is to be provided by Ireneusz Bochenek from Poland, whereas the total pool of prizes amounts EUR 6600.
