As Marsha Parkinson from Canterbury Farm, the last owner of Polish National Champion Stallion and valuable sire of winning progeny worldwide – Wojsław (Tallin – Wilejka/El Paso) has informed, on 24 March the last foal of this Michałów-bred stallion was born.

Wojsław died suddenly last year due to a brain aneurysm while covering the mare. That was PA Gazelle (El Ghazi – Diana by Probat) – dam of the new born filly – who was being covered that fatal day. She was the only mare Wojsław covered last year. This dramatic situation was just the beginning of the story. Two and a half weeks later, PA Gazelle was checked to see if she was pregnant. At the time, the farm’s vet unfortunately was in the hospital. So, a fairly inexperienced young vet was standing in and did an ultrasound exam. Gazelle was declared not pregnant. In another three weeks she still did not come into heat so they examined her again by ultrasound with the same result along with the vet giving encouragement to give the mare prostaglandin to bring her into season. But – as Marsha says – something told her not to do that, so she refused the idea without hesitation. Then waited and watched for another month and a half. Still no heat. Finally, the regular vet returned to a limited practice and he did examine the mare himself… He announced that there was a huge, normal, healthy conceptus with a strong heartbeat inside!

The filly born on 24th March is a full sister to an exceptional Wojsław filly, a halter winner and reputed to be his best at Canterbury Farm breeding pure Polish horses for 25 years now – Diwa, born 2005. “The new filly is virtually a twin”, says Marsha Parkinson. “Both have the same high quality, type and size, but also in markings which are inexplicably almost identical. This cross has been exceptional, and karmic, propitious, blessed, and has defied the fates”.

This is the third foal born from this combination – PA Gazelle also had an upright, big trotting, bay full brother to the fillies, Doktryn, in 2007, who is quite masculine and is also very exciting with his spectacular action. Due to the similar look of both fillies, the new born baby foal is temporarily named “Diwa Two” but Marsha is thinking about coming up with something with “Dar” (that means “gift” in Polish) in it, since she was definitely Wojsław’s last gift. “This filly is a miracle… and she will be forever treasured”, Marsha points.
