On Sunday evening a sad news came from the US. At Toshkara Arabians, the stud well known for its pure Polish program (home of Monogramm’ son – Kordelas bred by Michałów Stud) at 14:10 pm Michałów-bred mare of great value passed away. It was Gloria – sired by Eukaliptus and out of El Paso daughter – Gildia. Gloria born 1986 was full sister to Goliat – immortal chief sire at Canterbury Farm, Maryland. Before her purchase to the US Gloria gave birth to 6 foals in Poland and became famous as one of the very few Arabian horse mares in the world who gave birth and raised twins – fillies Gloria Bis and Gloria Zen (by Wachlarz), currently owned by Polish private stud Ewex Arabians.

Gloria was the representative of the family of Gilza – producer of such famous stars and valuable broodmares as Gaskonia, Grenlandia, Galilea, Georgia or Garonna. Purchased on 1999 Pride of Poland sale by her last owners – Dick and Christine Reed, Gloria left 7 further foals in the US – including performance champions as TA Georgio (by Druid), TA Geronimo and TA Glacier (by Kordelas): all gained reining champion titles. The only daughter born in the US out of Gloria – three years old TA Giselle (by Kordelas) also started her reining lessons.

Due to the serious complications Gloria could not stay alive after giving birth to her last foal – a big, grey colt by Kordelas whose markings resembles his beautiful sire very much. The foal was given an adoptive mother who accepted him. The last owners of Gloria as well as the people who worked and knew her in Poland mention her as a mare with wonderful character, good and loving mother – and a great producer.
