Gigi Grasso – one of the most renowned Arabian horse photographers – dedicated his newest album “Gigi Grasso – 20 Years of Photography” to the children and youth from the valley of Congo river. All income achieved from its sale is to be allotted for the rescue of this region of Africa. The costs of the publication were covered by the studs introduced in the album, exclusively designed and issued by the author himself.
In total Gigi Grasso published 10 books devoted to Arabian horses, including “Spirit of Tradition” (2000), “Captured in Time – Australia” (1996), “Captured in Time – Egypt” (1995) and “Captured in Time – Stallions in Europe” (1997). In the latter one were introduced such Polish stallions, used in state and private studs, as Emigrant, Wachlarz, Wojsław, Fawor, Eldon, Eukaliptus, Endel, Pesal, Ararat, Turban, Ecaho (whose head and neck looked like carved in a stone) and Piruet, whose portrait is considered as the best one until now.
Apart from editorial and artistic work, Gigi is also a rider and breeder of horses. In his works he always tries to depict spirit and emotions, in order to enable viewers an intimate connection with the image. As soon, as he succeeds in it, he wins hearts of the viewers, the more that he is especially attracted by Arabian horses in their natural environment. In order to obtain the final effect, as well as to understand the history and culture of people, who created the breed, he tries to visit every country, where Arabian horses are raised and shown. He gets inspired by those travels.
